Generating a new CSR will replace the previous CSR and private key files.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"wysiwyg-font-size-large\"><strong>CSR generation in the Zimbra Admin Console<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By default the Zimbra Administration web interface can be accessed via the following URL:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>https:\/\/<\/strong><strong>yourdomain.com<\/strong><strong>:7071<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&#8211; yourdomain.com<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the Zimbra server hostname, usually assigned during the initial Zimbra setup.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Log into the Administration Console with your admin credentials (the default admin username is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">admin@yourdomain.com<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and follow these steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Click <\/span><strong>Configure<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the menu list on the left:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim1.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Click <strong>Certificates<\/strong> in the left pane, then click the gear icon on the top right and select <strong>Install Certificate<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim2.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Select the needed servername from the drop-down menu and click <strong>Next<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim3.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Select <strong>Generate the CSR for the commercial certificate authorizer<\/strong> and click <strong>Next<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim4.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fill in the details as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Length:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the length of private and public keys. The current industry standard is 2048- and 4096- bits.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Common Name<\/strong>:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the domain that is your server hostname (yourdomain.com). <strong>Note<\/strong>: The <strong>Use Wildcard Common Name<\/strong> option should be used only if you have a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/domain-type\/wildcard-ssl-certificates\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wildcard certificate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In this case, the Common Name should be specified in the following format: <em><strong>*.example.com<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Country Name<\/strong>:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the country should be entered as a two-letter <a href=\"https:\/\/countrycode.org\/\">ISO 3166-1 -compliant country code<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>State\/Province<\/strong>:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> state, province or region; you can enter the city if this field is not applicable for your country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>City<\/strong>:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Organization Name<\/strong>:<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> company name. <strong>Note<\/strong>: For <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/validation-type\/domain-only\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domain Validation certificates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you can simply enter <em><strong>NA<\/strong><\/em> as DV certificates do not include company details.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Organization Unit<\/strong>: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">company department. <strong>Note<\/strong>: You can enter <em><strong>NA<\/strong><\/em> as this field is not included into certificates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Subject Alternative Names:<\/strong> SANs may be specified only if you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/domain-type\/multi-domain-ssl-certificates\">multi-domain certificate<\/a>. For other certificates, please leave this field empty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. Once all fields are filled, click <strong>Next<\/strong> to continue:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim5.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><strong>Download the CSR<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and save the CSR file. To proceed with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/okay-so-i-ordered-an-ssl-how-do-i-get-it-to-work-on-my-domain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">certificate activation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your SSLs.com account, open the CSR file with any text editor (e.g., Notepad or TextEdit) and copy-paste the entire content into the CSR submission box.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Before submitting the CSR in your account, we recommend checking it for possible issues with <a href=\"https:\/\/decoder.link\">this online tool<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"wysiwyg-font-size-large\"><strong>CSR generation using Zimbra Certificate CLI<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can use the <\/span><strong>zmcertmgr<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> command line tool to generate a CSR and manage certificates. To do it, you will need SSH access to the server. To use this tool, log in as <\/span><strong>root<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Zimbra version prior to 8.7, or as the <\/span><strong>zimbra<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user for versions 8.7 and higher. To switch to the <\/span><strong>zimbra<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> user, you can run this command (you need to be logged in as <\/span><strong>root <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 you can run <\/span><em><strong>sudo su<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to switch to <\/span><strong>root<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>su &#8211; zimbra<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The default location of the <\/span><strong>zmcertmgr<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tool is <\/span><strong>\/opt\/zimbra\/bin\/zmcertmgr<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. To generate a CSR, run the following command:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\/opt\/zimbra\/bin\/zmcertmgr createcsr comm -new -subject &#8220;\/C=<\/strong><strong>CC<\/strong><strong>\/ST=<\/strong><strong>State<\/strong><strong>\/L=<\/strong><strong>City<\/strong><strong>\/O=<\/strong><strong>Company<\/strong><strong>\/OU=NA\/CN=<\/strong><strong>yourdomain.com<\/strong><strong>&#8221; -noDefaultSubjectAltName<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replace the values as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>C =<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Country, should be specified as a two-letter <a href=\"https:\/\/countrycode.org\/\">ISO 3166-1-compliant country code<\/a>. The list of country codes can be checked here.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ST <\/strong>=<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> State or province; enter the city if not applicable<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>L <\/strong>=<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Locality (city)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>O <\/strong>=<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Organization (company name); you can enter <em><strong>NA<\/strong><\/em> if this field is not applicable<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>OU <\/strong>= <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organization Unit (company name); you can enter <em><strong>NA<\/strong><\/em> if this field is not applicable<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>CN <\/strong>=<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Common Name (domain that is your server hostname). If you have a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/domain-type\/wildcard-ssl-certificates\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wildcard certificate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, enter the Common Name in this format: <em><strong>*.yourdomain.com<\/strong><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is an example command for reference: <em>\/opt\/zimbra\/bin\/zmcertmgr createcsr comm -new -subject &#8220;\/C=US\/ST=California\/L=Los Angeles\/O=MyCompany Inc\/OU=NA\/CN=server.mydomain.com&#8221; -noDefaultSubjectAltName<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The output will look like this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/zim6.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you need to generate a CSR with multiple domains to activate a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/domain-type\/multi-domain-ssl-certificates\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">multi-domain certificate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you can adjust the command to include SANs in the following way:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\/opt\/zimbra\/bin\/zmcertmgr createcsr comm -new -subject &#8220;\/C=<\/strong><strong>CC<\/strong><strong>\/ST=<\/strong><strong>State<\/strong><strong>\/L=<\/strong><strong>City<\/strong><strong>\/O=<\/strong><strong>Company<\/strong><strong>\/OU=NA\/CN=<\/strong><strong>yourdomain.com<\/strong><strong>&#8221; -subjectAltNames \u201c<\/strong><strong>subdomain.yourdomain.com<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong><strong>otherdomain.com<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional domains should be typed in instead of <\/span><strong>subdomain.yourdomain.com<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span> <strong>otherdomain.com<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CSR will be saved into this file: <\/span><strong>\/opt\/zimbra\/ssl\/zimbra\/commercial\/commercial.csr<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can open the file with a text editor like Nano, or run this command to print it to console:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>cat \/opt\/zimbra\/ssl\/zimbra\/commercial\/commercial.csr<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To proceed with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/okay-so-i-ordered-an-ssl-how-do-i-get-it-to-work-on-my-domain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">certificate activation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, copy the entire output including <em>&#8212;&#8211;BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST&#8212;&#8211;<\/em> and <em>&#8212;&#8211;END CERTIFICATE REQUEST&#8212;&#8211;<\/em>, and paste it into the CSR box in your SSLs.com account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before submitting the CSR in your account, we recommend checking it for possible issues with <a href=\"https:\/\/decoder.link\/\">this online tool<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The corresponding private key will be saved in the same directory as <\/span><strong>\/opt\/zimbra\/ssl\/zimbra\/commercial\/commercial.key<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
