SSL Certificate Renewal becomes available in your Account from 30 days before its expiration. We\u2019ll send you email reminders 30, 15, 7, 3 and 1 day before your Certificate expires, so you\u2019ll have plenty of opportunity to renew.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: if Certificates are allowed to expire, they can\u2019t be renewed. In this case you\u2019d need to buy a brand new Certificate.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s get started with your renewal:<\/p>\n

In your Account panel, click My SSL<\/strong><\/a> at the upper right corner. On the next page, use the Renew<\/strong> button next to the Certificate in question to initiate the renewal process.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be directed to the checkout page to complete your repeat purchase.<\/p>\n

Once done, go back to to the My SSL<\/strong><\/a> list in your Account and click the Activate<\/strong> button next to the renewal Certificate you’ve just ordered.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Your next steps will depend on the Certificate type you\u2019ve renewed. Jump to the below section that applies.<\/p>\n

Renewal for PositiveSSL, EssentialSSL, PositiveSSL Wildcard and EssentialSSL Wildcard<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Step 1. Save new key<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

You have two options. Either download the new key automatically generated in your browser, or submit a manually generated CSR.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: both options support IDNs with the following TLDs<\/a>. Paste in the IDN instead of typing it, to ensure no errors cause delays.<\/p>\n

a) Create CSR in-browser<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

This is a default option in your Account panel, after specifying the domain for your Certificate. Click Save Key<\/strong> to download the Private key for your renewal Certificate.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep in mind<\/strong> that by default, the Private key will be saved to the “Downloads” folder on your computer. So, ensure to keep it safe and not to remove accidentally when clearing up your downloads.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

b) Manual CSR Option<\/b><\/p>\n

To switch to using the CSR pre-generated on your server, or to receive a corresponding command to generate one, tick the Enter CSR<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: you can select the encryption method and server type to receive the corresponding command in the Create CSR in a command line <\/strong>field.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Private key is generated along with the CSR and should be stored on the server. The Private key code is required during the SSL installation<\/a>, so keep it safe.
\nPaste the CSR code including \u2014\u2013BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST\u2014\u2013 and \u2014\u2013END CERTIFICATE REQUEST\u2014\u2013 into the Enter CSR<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n

Click Onwards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2. Confirm domain
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Choose your preferred DCV method<\/a> i.e. either upload your validation file or receive an email from the Certificate Authority.<\/p>\n

Most people choose the email option. Verify that the email details for the certificate are correct, then click Submit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Renewal for InstantSSL, EV SSL, InstantSSL Pro, PremiumSSL, PremiumSSL Wildcard<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Step 1. Save new key<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To save you time, we will pre-fill the information from your previous Certificate. Simply make sure that the details are correct, and appear as listed in government or business directories (Yellow pages, Dun & Bradstreet etc).<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 3. Review & Submit<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Verify that the company details you submitted are correct.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most people choose the email option. Verify that the email details for the certificate are correct, then in your Account panel click Submit<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Renewal for Multi-Domain Certificates<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You\u2019ll need a new CSR code. You can request the CSR from your hosting provider, or generate it yourself. View our CSR generation instructions<\/a> for more guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1. CSR info<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Copy and paste the CSR code you\u2019ve generated for the Certificate renewal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2. Domains<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Select the server type you will install your renewed the certificate on.<\/span><\/p>\n

Check the domains (SANs) that will get SSL encryption, and click Onward<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, if there\u2019s an issue, re-generate the CSR<\/a> according to the prompt messages and try again.<\/p>\n

You can easily add more domains<\/a> using the plus<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Step 3. Confirm domain
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Choose the Domain Control Validation (DCV)<\/a> method for this renewal. It will be either one of the approver email addresses, or by uploading a text file.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: the file upload DCV method is not available for OV\/EV certificates.<\/span><\/p>\n

These guides will take you through validation with the Certificate Authority:<\/p>\n

  1. You\u2019ll complete the Domain Control Validation (DCV) process<\/a> to have your Certificate issued.<\/li>\n
  2. OV and EV Certificates require an additional company verification process<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Note<\/strong>: You can use Sectigo Order Status Checker<\/a> to influence your certificate validation.<\/p>\n

    After validation is completed, your Certificate will be issued by the CA and sent to your specified administrative email address. If you don\u2019t receive it for some reason, you can always download the Certificate from your account<\/a>.<\/p>\n
