It always depends on the certificate validation type and information about the applicant and the company that will be provided to the Certificate Authority, Comodo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/comodo-ca-rebrands-as-sectigo\">now Sectigo<\/a>). The more certificate is engaged in the company verification process, the higher the certificate assurance is. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All SSL certificates are divided into three types: DV (Domain Validation), OV (Organization Validation) and EV (Extended Validation). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificates are <\/span><strong>low<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><strong>medium assurance<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ones. The Certificate Authority, Sectigo CA (former Comodo), should check the domain ownership and ability of the certificate applicant to manage the domain before issuing an SSL certificate. The process of domain name verification is called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/how-can-i-complete-the-domain-control-validation-for-my-ssl-certificate\/\"><strong>Domain Control Validation <\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(DCV). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This process is fast enough and takes up to 15 minutes. <\/span><strong>Low<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><strong>medium assurance<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> certificates provide the same encryption level and are not limited in any way. The only difference is that <\/span><strong>low assurance<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> certificates can be used mostly for blogs or personal websites, while medium assurance certificates are commonly used for small volume e-commerce websites. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>Low assurance<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> certificates are: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/ssl-certificates\/comodo-positivessl\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PositiveSSL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/ssl-certificates\/comodo-positivessl-multi-domain\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PositiveSSL Multi-domain<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/ssl-certificates\/comodo-positivessl-wildcard\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PositiveSSL Wildcard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Medium assurance<\/strong> certificates can be found here: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/ssl-certificates\/comodo-essentialssl\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EssentialSSL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/ssl-certificates\/comodo-essentialssl-wildcard\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EssentialSSL Wildcard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>High assurance<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> SSL certificates are Organization Validation (OV) ones. To issue such a certificate, the applicant is required to complete the DCV process. After that, the Certificate Authority should verify the legal and physical existence (address and phone number) of the company \u00a0applying for the certificate. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process may take up to 2 business days. For the certificate issuance, it is necessary to complete the DCV process, pass legal and physical existence verification and submit required documents to the Certificate Authority.
