Generate a CSR only for the primary domain name and specify additional hostnames during the certificate activation at SSLs.com<\/h3>\n<p>You will be able to specify additional domains after you have submitted the CSR.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Click on the &#8216;plus&#8217; button;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/add_san.png\" width=\"909\" height=\"516\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Enter additional hostnames;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ssls.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/add_san_2.png\" width=\"777\" height=\"606\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Click &#8216;Add&#8217; button.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h_d15f0d9a-2b28-407d-8c42-93ec32acc17d\">2. Generate CSR specifying additional domains (SANs)<\/h3>\n<p>You can create such CSR using <a href=\"https:\/\/decoder.link\/csr_generator\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Namecheap CSR generator<\/a>. Additional domains (Subject Alt Names) can be entered in the advanced options.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can generate such a CSR using OpenSSL.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Create an OpenSSL configuration file (e.g. <em>req.conf<\/em>) and fill out the details for your CSR.<\/p>\n<pre>[req]\ndistinguished_name = req_distinguished_name\nreq_extensions = v3_req\nprompt = no\n[req_distinguished_name]\nC = US\nST = VA\nL = City\nO = YourOrganization\nOU = YourOrganizationUnit\nCN = www.example.com\n[v3_req]\nkeyUsage = keyEncipherment, dataEncipherment\nextendedKeyUsage = serverAuth\nsubjectAltName = @alt_names\n[alt_names]\nDNS.1 = www.example.com\nDNS.2 = example.com\nDNS.3 = sub.example.com\nDNS.4 = sub2.example.net<\/pre>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Run the following command to create the CSR based on the configuration file:<\/span><\/p>\n<pre>openssl req -new -out example.csr -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -sha256 -keyout example.key -config req.conf<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note!<\/strong>&nbsp;Multi-domain certificates do not support www subdomains by default. If you need to secure both&nbsp;www.example.com&nbsp;and example.com with one Multi-Domain certificate, both hostnames should be specified during the certificate activation.
