Symantec sunset: managing certificates

  General Questions

SSLs.com stopped providing Symantec certificates on December 1, 2016.

Unused certificates

When you click on the “New” button and choose the “Activate” option from the drop-down menu, you will get error messages.

You have two options:

  • Go ahead with a Comodo (now Sectigo) SSL
  • Claim a refund

If you opt for the “Get Comodo SSL” option, an option to buy a brand new SSL certificate from Sectigo CA (former Comodo CA) instead of the Symantec SSL will be given.

You will be able to activate your brand new certificate right away.

Our system will take care of the replaced Symantec certificate: It will be cancelled, and the remaining fees will be refunded to your SSLs.com account funds.

If you decide to refund the non-activated Symantec certificate:

You can check the issued refund by clicking on the corresponding View button.

Issued certificates

You can reissue your certificate. If you choose Reissue (new private key) by clicking on the Active button next to a Symantec certificate, you will be forwarded to the Geotrust End User Portal where you can manage/reissue your certificate.

The message with the pre-filled domain name, order ID and email address will appear.

You can find the guide on SSL certificate reissue process via this portal here.

Expiring certificates

You have an opportunity to replace your expiring certificate with a similar COMODO SSL (Comodo (now Sectigo) alternatives) by clicking on the link in the renewal notification. You will be automatically redirected to your SSLs.com account and forwarded to the shopping cart where you will be able to purchase an identical Comodo (now Sectigo) SSL.

In case you encounter any difficulties during the process or have any related questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
