To validate a certificate, the certificate authority may usually ask for any one of these documents:
– Articles of Incorporation (with address)
– Government Issued Business License (with address)
– Copy of a recent company bank statement (you may blacken out Account No)
– Copy of a recent company phone bill
– Copy of a recent major utility bill of the company (i.e. power bill, water bill, etc.)
– Current lease agreement for the company
– Certificate of Formation
– Charter Documents
– Registration of Trade Name
– Partnership Papers
– Fictitious Name Statement
– Vendor/Reseller/Merchant License
– Merchant certificate
Comodo (now Sectigo) EV requirements:
Before an EV SSL certificate can be issued, three important steps need to be performed by the EV SSL Certificate vendor. The steps are:
- Confirm the existence of the Company through 3rd party sources
- Verify that the request has been made on behalf of the company
- Obtain mutual confirmation of the request between the Certificate Authority and the requesting party
